Brett Vogelsinger
Hello! I am an English teacher with over twenty years of experience teaching in a public school district. I live with my family in Pennsylvania where you can find me in my garden when I am not teaching, reading, or writing.
I see teaching as a craft that we can develop and grow across the course of the career, developing new skills and employing new tools over time. Always, I am noodling over new ways to invite student learning and growth our ever-changing world.
Much of my current work has to do with
- embedding poems in instruction to develop thinking and skills as writers
- incorporating AI into learning in healthy, productive, and honest ways
- interrogating the best practices to help students achieve mastery of essential ELA skills
- helping students develop and maintain a habit of reading and their own reading lives
- using a writer’s notebook to promote practice, feedback, and growth
- allowing room for both students and teachers to be creative, breathe, and enjoy the essential humanness of our work in English class
- balancing the demands of teaching AP Literature and Composition
I look forward to getting to know you, whether as a collaborator in a conference presentation, as a keynote speaker for your next event or webinar, or as that proverbial “teacher down the hall” with whom you can bat around your ideas, goals, and aspirations.
